YellowBird Covers every working Professional with three insurance policies while on a job through the platform
- The first policy is called Occupational Accident Coverage and is comparable to workers compensation but for independent contractors. This policy will cover medical bills and rehabilitation for work-related injuries that occur during YellowBird jobs. The policy is capped at $1 million and covers up to death or dismemberment. We will send you a copy of this policy for your records when you fully onboarded. That will also include a claim submission packet and a beneficiary designation form. This is someone who can advocate for your wishes if you are not able to communicate and would be the beneficiary in the case of death. You are still covered by the policy even if you do not turn in the Beneficiary Form to YellowBird, however, we do ask that you submit this form for our records.
- The second insurance policy we cover you with is a Professional Liability policy. This policy is important as it will protect your personal net worth from being called into question while doing work on the YellowBird platform. Often this policy is referred to as “errors and omissions.” If a customer were to file a liability claim against your work this policy, this policy would initiate an investigate on both sides. If the liability is on the Professional, the policy will pay out the damages up to $1 million.
- The third policy is Hired Non-Owned Auto insurance. This policy will cover your driving to/from the YellowBird gig and, if needed, driving during the job. To comply with this policy, there is a requirement that the Pro's insurance policy must meet:
- You must be insured personally for auto insurance to the level of $300,000. This means if you take all of your lines of coverage (bodily injury, property damage, uninsured motorist, collision, etc.) and add them up it should total $300,000 or greater. In most states, this is the minimum policy. The YellowBird coverage will then cover $1 million additional liability on top of that. We know auto accident liabilities can add up quickly, so this policy would enable coverage up to $1.3 million for an auto accident during or en route to a YellowBird job.
When you accept a job on the YellowBird platform, you will be asked to verify your insurance. You will not be eligible for the job unless this verification step is complete.
